Use a sleep tracker

Many fitness trackers now include sleep tracking software that can be quite useful, allowing you to evaluate the effects of different strategies.

Use a sleep tracker

For example, did that afternoon coffee disrupt your sleep? Did morning exercise make it better but evening exercise made it worse? I am personally using the Oura Ring to track my sleep. I like it best because for me it is more comfortable and seamless to wear a ring versus a band around my wrist.

Also, through research and testing I’ve found the Oura ring has the lowest EMF output and I consider electromagnetic field exposure from electronic devices to be a subtle disruptor of high quality sleep and optimal health in general. Here’s some dialogue about EMF exposure on the Whoop. Apple Watches also produce a high EMF output and I would personally not recommend sleeping with one.

This video provides more information about EMF levels and the Oura Ring:

So, I don’t track my sleep with a sleep tracker. I’m not a fan of wearing anything around my wrist at night, because I end up getting numb arm from it. Do you get numbness at all? Although, using a sleep tracker is a great thing to do. Sleep is so important! I find too much caffeine can really wreck my sleep and deep breathing, stretching and exercise makes me sleep well. It would be interesting to track it all. I should look into a sleep tracker…thanks for sharing!

I believed a good sleep can help me work better while maintaining well my blood pressure. But I have not used any of the sleep tracker before. May be because I have zero knowledge about the sleep tracker.

Is it possible you can show some real data about how the sleep tracker can tell us? As you have said, our sleep has various stages while the deep sleep is the most important. How is your deep sleep trending in the past 14 days? Some screen shots may help a lot.

Watching the Oura Ring videos, Look like there are some records about a good sleep and as you have mentioned, it is safer and convenient to use.

Thanks for your great article and recommendation. I am sure everyone who are concerned to get a good sleep may like to take a try.

Using the sleep tracker at first may be a little weird but if you use it frequently it might be very helpful. A sleep tracker like the Apple Watch or Oura Ring can be incredibly helpful in monitoring your sleep patterns and improving your overall sleep quality. It’s great to see that the author has found a sleep-tracking device that works well for them and is conscious of the potential negative effects of EMF exposure. Having a tool to track your sleep can provide valuable insights and help you make adjustments to your bedtime routine for a more restful night’s sleep.

Your explanation of how sleep trackers work and their various features was also incredibly helpful. I had no idea that they could track detailed sleep stages and provide data on heart rate variability. I am someone who struggles with getting quality sleep… You’ve definitely convinced me of the value of investing in a sleep tracker!

This article has been an eye-opener for me and has inspired me to take control of my sleep habits. Thank you for sharing your expertise on this topic, and I look forward to reading more of your content in the future.

This is very interesting. I have a Fitbit that helps me track my sleep… or lack thereof. I didn’t even realize or think about the fact that there are emf’s produced by something I am wearing pretty much all the time. I am kind of addicted to my Fitbit actually.

Sleep trackers are devices that monitor your sleep patterns and help you get a better understanding of your sleep habits. They can identify factors that interfere with your sleep, help establish a regular sleep schedule, and promote relaxation before bed.

Using a sleep tracker can be a useful tool for improving sleep habits, but it should be used in conjunction with other healthy sleep practices. This includes minimizing screen time before bed, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, and creating a comfortable sleep environment.

In summary, if you’re struggling with getting adequate sleep, a sleep tracker may be a helpful tool to identify areas for improvement and establish healthy sleep habits.

I found your article to be very informative.  I did not know about the sleep trackers you have mentioned.  Did you ever find that tracking sleep adds a bit of tension to the whole process? I have done this a bit through technology in the mattress that we use.  But, I found that I was a bit stressed because the results of my sleep were not good enough.  It sounds silly but this added a bit of tension as I was trying to sleep.  Maybe I will try it again based on the advice that you have given in the article.
